What to do if you need help
Our goal at the Amazon Basin is to make a safe and comfortable environment for those who value team play,
honesty, and courtesy. Unfortunately, there are times when people who do not agree with our values attempt
to play in our games. If you are the victim of one of these people, please let us know. The Amazon Basin
takes seriously our stance of "equal protection under the law"; everyone who plays in our games has the
right to a courteous and pleasant gaming experience, whether it is your very first Basin game, or whether
you have been playing with us for years.
The principles of Amazon Basin gameplay can be summarized as follows:
- Be Friendly. Do not directly or indirectly attack other players.
- Play Fair. The use of hacks, cheats, or illegal items is forbidden.
- Share Drops. All item drops belong to the entire group, to be distributed fairly.
- Be Courteous. Refrain from inappropriate language, insults, and harassment.
- Come to Play. Basin games are primarily for team play - not trading, muling, or rushing.
Everyone is expected to abide by these principles, which we can and do enforce. If in doubt, ask an Amazon
Basin Member about what they mean.
And remember - do not distribute passwords to our games - doing so will have serious consequences!
Problem Behaviors
The following behaviors are those that we deem to be demeaning, dangerous or unfair to players, or which
compromise the security of our games. Should you note any of the following behaviors in any Amazon Basin
game, we urge you to let us know immediately:
In addition, there may be other behaviors which make you uncomfortable, or which you deem unpleasant. We
urge you to discuss any such behaviors with your teammates when they happen. Should your request be refused
or treated rudely, please let us know, so that we can address your concerns. Such behaviors might
include (but are not limited to):
- Begging for items.
- Opening evil urns, seals, or initiating other potentially dangerous actions when people aren't ready for the battle.
- Players flaming other players.
- Refusing requests to slow down in dangerous areas.
- Repeated requests from another player that you
cheese his/her character.
- Stealing quests if you are in the same area and wish to participate.
- Swearing.
Contacting Us
Should you need to contact us, please rest assured that you will
be treated with respect, and you will not
suffer any repercussions. In fact, we are always
receptive to reports of problems in our games, forum, and channel so that they can be fixed, no
matter who might be causing the problem. In the event that you need to contact us, please do the following:
- Get the offender’s character/account name. The quickest way is to pull up the player screen by using
the "P" hotkey, and then left-click the "squelch" button for the character. (This is the icon of the ear
next to the player’s name). That puts a blue-text message on your screen giving the account and character
names. Be sure that you press the "squelch" button again to "unsquelch" the character if you wish to hear
further dialogue.
- Get screenshots by pressing the "Print Screen" button. This will create a screenshot in your Diablo II
directory. Examples of good things to include in screenshots are dialogue between characters (by pressing
the "M" key, you can bring up the message log) and the account names as described above. Screenshots are
the best proof of what happened. Please provide them if at all possible.
- Whisper the channel moderator if there is a serious problem, such as PK’ing, stealing, or a clear
password violation. To do this, type "/w *theamazonbasin ". If possible, please include offense,
game name, the bnet account, and the forum name of the perpetrator. An example message might be, "PK
attempt in abasinhcnm; account name xxx, forum name yyy". If you receive no answer from your whisper to
the channel moderator, ask in the "op theamazon-basin" channel for help from an Amazon Basin Member (ABM). Any
ABM in the channel should be able to help you.
- If the problem is not serious, go to the forums and PM any member of
the moderating team.
In conclusion, we would like to say that we are pleased that you have chosen to game with us. We
hope that your stay with us is fun and enjoyable.
Welcome to the Amazon Basin.
