When all elemental damage applied can no longer be absorbed, the remainder is undiminished: if 100 elemental damage is applied and only 10 elemental damage is absorbed, 90 elemental damage will remain. Cast again to refresh and absorb future elemental damage. Cold damage can be absorbed but cold length is still applied.
