Vitality affects a player character's stamina and life, and the percentage chance of doubling life restored by any healing potion. Player character Vitality varies depending on chosen class at start of game:
Player character can increase Vitality by allocating attribute points and can also gain bonuses from equipped items, and charms in inventory in Expansion games. Stamina and life gained from each additional point also vary depending on character class:

Typically, a character allocates every remaining point to Vitality once Strength and Dexterity meet any requirements for equipped items (and achieve desired chance of blocking when equipping a shield, auric shield or shrunken head in Expansion games), although more experienced players with better equipped characters applying physical attack damage may allocate less points, preferring to allocate them to Strength or Dexterity to increase that damage.
