April Fool's PvP Raid

We spent a fun April Fool's on Stormrage, running around horde capitals and scaring up as much world PvP as we could.

Big thanks to Mots for coming up with the idea and organizing it, and thanks also to everyone who came out, we had lots of Basiners and lots of friends with us, and I think everyone had a ton of fun. I know I certainly did!

More pictures of the event are here.

Illidan Down on Tichondrius

Last night a fine group of 22 current and former Basin folks plus 3 of our fine friends from Grim Vengeance laid Illidan to rest. It took us 31 total pulls to get the kill which was spread out over 3 nights of raids.

Also as part of our push this week we got to send Champ off in style as he is no longer going to be raiding with us. (Champ quit your new job!!!! Raiding >>>RL <3 )

First boss kill in SSC for Stormrage - Lurker Down!

We recently realized we hadn't done a news update in a while, and the Lurker kill tonight seemed like the perfect excuse to get back into the swing of things.

Lurker Kill
This was our first SSC kill, so was a great feeling for everyone, and we're planning on continuing our forward momentum. :) Many thanks to everyone who has helped out with our raiding efforts, this is very much a victory for the entire team!

Pictures of the kill are listed here. Loot from Lurker was Ancestral Ring of Conquest, Velvet Boots of the Guardian, and Mallet of the Tides, and we also got a Wildfury Greatstaff off of trash on our way there.

Zul'Aman
We've been working on Zul'Aman since it came out, and are currently working on Zul'Jin. Here are some pictures of our boss kills along the way, as well as shots of some adorable (but deadly) Hex Gnomes, and our first look at the one-eyed, one-armed troll who we hope to take down in the near future.

Winter Veil - Holiday Party
We try and celebrate Winter Veil every year with a special event, as well as the traditional gift exchange. This year, we got together in Winterspring to give out our Secret Snata presents, and get a picture taken with Snata himself! Afterwards, we piled onto low level alts on another server to engage in a raid on the most epic of beasts.... Hogger. It was a ton of fun doing a raid on a level 11 mob with people who were level 3 and 4, and we even took off to Westfall afterwards until we were beaten back by the Murloc hordes. Pics and a link to the video that LucyLui put together of the event can be found here. Stay good, boys and girls! Snata is always watching!

Amazon Basin Fundraising Time

Our gaming community thrives in part because of these forums. It takes money to keep those servers operating, and The Amazon Basin accepts no advertising. All of the organizational types here work as volunteers. Periodically our founder, TPJ, has to ask that those of us in a financial position to help out do so by making a donation. That time is upon us, as TPJ recently reported on the Main Forums:

QUOTE
It's time for me to do what I hate the most - ask for money. I'm lucky to run a vibrant and well respected community of people that always seem ready to help those in need. I don't like to 'ask' for people to help us stay afloat, but as probably all of you realize by now, our decision to leave advertisements off our site forces me to pass the hat every now and then.

Our last server fund drive was in early 2006. It kept us going for almost 2 years! I can't thank you folks enough for that. I understand we held another one about a year ago for a (close to) destitute ABM - and asking you again so soon wasn't my plan. I hope everyone understands.

Right now, the best way to help is with a donation through PayPal. I am working on getting our BasinWear site back up and running, so I should have that ready in the next few days. Once it is up, you can use it to purchase 1337 items like cracked sashes and mongolian pr0n. Heck, you can even purchase a sweet embroidered polo or Basin mouse pad!

If you are in a financial position to help us, please visit our donation page. If you'd rather not go the subscription route (on that page), you can just use the single 'PayPal Donate' button below that row of 'subscription' icons. I'll have the BasinWear site up soon, so if you'd rather use it, just hang in there please.

Thanks everyone.

We'll all do whatever we are able to help keep this oasis of online gaming operating.
Thanks, everybody!

Gruul down on Stormrage

The title says it all. It's been a while since we got Maulgar the first time, so after all these wipes it's really nice to see Gruul face down.

Good work all those who put in all that effort all this time!

Maulgar Down on Stormrage

After many, many attempts, the Stormrage gang downed Maulgar. Morgrid put this together and planned for several weeks. Many BEM flasks were burned and we wiped until we got the pull down. Once we got that, we were able to down his adds, hang in through all the whirlwinds and finish him off.

Grats and thanks to all who participated.

Morigrim Tidewalker walks no more

That's right! After a few nice attempts, we brought him down, with the call to go wet coming at about 60%! The tich branch continues it's relentless march through serpentshrine cavern

phat lewts were Warboots of obliteration for Poinsettia and Girdle of the tidal call for Rescorla.

Oh, and an un-named, but very handsome and witty Tauren warrior got his last 2 nether vortexes, finishing his Lionheart Executioner

Thanks to all that were there for a VERY fun fight!

Loots were Fel Reaver's Piston (Slugari), Mantle of Tirisfal (Alectra) and Deathmantle Shoulderpads (Gravely)

Full Clear of Karazhan for The Basin on Stormrage

The title kind of says it all. Three or four attempts on Nightbane on Friday night and we downed him on the fourth attempt on Saturday. We had made a few attempts on Netherspite two weeks ago, and came back after Nightbane and got him on the second try.

First Serpentshrine Cavern boss kill for the Basin raiders on Tich

On the second night of Serpentshrine raiding, the Basin raiding crew on Tichondrius took down Hydross the Unstable. A big thank you goes out to everyone in the guild who donated resistance gear and to the tanks who put a lot of effort into gathering resistance sets.

Loot went to Riva (the new stamina/resilience/attack power ring), Century and Inadatto. Congrats and enjoy guys!

Prince, Illhoof down on SR

The gang on Stormrage took out Prince on the second try of the night, after several weeks of learning. We then proceeded to down Illhoof on the 3rd attempt ever. We got Duana set up for summoning Nightbane, so next chance we get we will have to take a look at that fight. With Netherspite the only other boss to fall, we are getting pretty close to clearing it.

Good job all 'round.

Magtheridon Down on Tich

In the 25th minute of overtime, Magtheridon's head was finally liberated from his body by the Tich raiding crew. Thanks for staying up late everyone and congrats on your first kill!

The player of the night award went to Gravely for an outstanding performance dealing out the loot.

Shade of Aran down on SR

It's been a few weeks, and it's been hard to get many serious attempts, but we finally managed to avoid the blizzard well enough and deal with (nerfed) adds.

We did this without a warlock by just burning the adds and being ready for the poly/pyro. We're all very happy to have finally gotten past this hurdle and looking forward to taking him down on a regular basis.

Attumen, Moroes, Maiden down on SR

Our Friday raid downed Attumen again and put in some serious training on Moroes, but it was getting just too late to continue. On Saturday, we one shot Moroes and spent 3 hours learning Maiden of Virtue and finally downed her.

Hattori hauled off the phat lewt with Moroes Lucky Pocket Watch and Iron Gauntlets of the Maiden. We had pity on Serane's crummy dice and deferred to her '3' on Bands of Nefarious Deeds.

There will hopefully be a follow up on Sunday for Opera and if Duana is any good at all he'll clear the rest of it.

Attumen down on SR

After much anticipation we finally got our first Karazhan run going and after a few minor hurdles (like finding a MT at the last minute) we downed Attumen on the 4th try. We did this with 2 paladins tanking, by the way. Nice job Bentellas and Confutatis and everyone else, too.

Gruul Down on Tich

On the 4th attempt of the night, Gruul the dragonslayer was promptly ground-stomped and shattered into the earth, as the basin on tich managed to take him down. At the 5% mark, we even found ourselves dealing with a respawn patrol! Nonetheless, we overcame the obstacles and managed to lay him low.

Congrats to all!

Danno

First Karazhan full clear for Tich Basin

After a delayed start and a few hours of learning a Basin group took down Nightbane to complete the Tich branch's first full Karazhan clear. Grats to those on the kill, and hopefully it will be followed soon by more full clears by the other groups moving through the instance.

Woot!
