Strength (suggested maximum score: 61~134)
Strength affects damage with melee weapons and the ability to equip items. For a bowazon, strength exists only as a requisite to stronger bows, so a specific target number should always be kept in mind. Amazons start with 20 strength. Suggested target ranges are:
- 50-59: Bramble Mitts, Crown, Demonhide Armor, Light Plated Boots, Shako, Spiderweb Sash, Vampirebone Gloves, Vampirefang Belt, Wyrmhide Boots, Splint Mail, Arbalest, Cedar Bow, Shadow Bow, Death Mask, Field Plate, Mage Plate, Ashwood Bow, Double Bow, Grim Helm, Heavy Bracers, Mesh Belt, Casque.
- 60-65: Gauntlets, Plated Belt, Trellised Armor, Great Helm, Spider Bow, Cuirass, Mesh Boots, Plate Mail, Short Siege Bow.
- 70-77: Gothic Plate, Greaves, Ward Bow, Ceremonial Bow, Rune Bow, Linked Mail, Blade Bow, Dusk Shroud .
- 80-89: Chu-Ko-Nu, Full Plate Mail, Large Siege Bow, Siege Crossbow, Basinet, Pellet Bow, Hydraskull, Wyrmhide Armor, Tigulated Mail, Matriarchal Bow, Battle Belt, Battle Gauntlets, Diamond Bow.
- 91-97: Scarabshell Boots, Mesh Armor, Battle Boots, Gothic Bow, Scarab Husk, Crusader Bow, Russet Armor.
- 100-109: Ancient Armor, Demonhead Mask, Archon Plate, Grand Crown, Sharktooth Armor, Bone Visage, Mithril Coil, Vambraces, Grand Matron Bow, Armet.
- 110-118: Ballista, War Belt, War Gauntlets, Wire Fleece, Winged Helm, Gorgon Crossbow, Boneweave Boots, Great Hauberk, Templar Coat.
- 125-127: Embossed Plate, War Boots, Great Bow.
- 131-134: Diamond Mail, Hydra Bow.
- 140-149: Chaos Armor, Demon Crossbow, Giant Conch, Loricated Mail.
- 163-170: Colossus Crossbow, Mirrored Boots, Balrog Skin, Ornate Plate.
If your bowazon is in CD2, the most she will need is around 73-95 strength, just enough to equip a rune or gothic bow, respectively. My recommendation is 95: if you don't find a bow that uses up that much strength, it's fairly unlikely that you're going to consider the wasted points a huge loss, and if you find a bow requiring more strength, then you won't have to work too hard to make the grade. Even in LOD, this is fairly balanced: 50-70 strength gives her access to good bows and armor, but limits future options; anything over 134 isn't recommended unless you really want to use a colossus crossbow, as the hydra is the heaviest bow.
Where can I get extra strength?
- Equipment:
- Rare gloves: +1-15 strength. (Rare items include magical items.)
- Rare rings and body armor: +16-20 strength.
- Rare amulets, belts, and circlets: +21-30 strength.
- Various unique, set, and rune word items give varying amounts of strength.
- Sockets:
- Amethysts of varying quality in helms and armor: +3-10 strength.
- Rare jewels of virility: +5-9 strength.
- Fal rune: +10 strength when socketed in anything.
- Charms:
- Small charms: +1-2 strength.
- Large charms: +2-5 strength.
- Grand charms: +3-6 strength.
- Annihilus small charm: +10-20 strength.
- Hellfire Torch large charm: +10-20 strength.
Again, strength is needed only to hold the bow. Developing strength for other things like armor is inefficient: bowazons don't need it because defense rating is a low priority (explained in Defense Rating), and on the whole, most of the heavier unique/set armors aren't that good for a bowazon anyway.
