Here's a copy of the build comments I sent to Gaile at the D2.Net site. In retrospect, I think a damage jewel (lightning with +min damage) would be a better socketing choice than a resist one for the armor. Let me know if you want me to add more comments or other information... The Arctic set is considered by many to be a low-level early Bowazon set. I've managed to finish "Players 8" Nightmare in Single Player with this build. Socketing, charms, and elemental damage are the keys to the build. Since single player "Players 8" is by far harder than most average Battle Net games, a player should be able to do better with this build online than in single player. Equipment: Normal boots - Hotspur, Nightmare boots - Infernostride/Cow King Hooves (though Cow King Hooves would be the best choice if Goblin Toe does not work with bows) Helm: 1-120 Lightning damage circlet with a socketed 1-9x lightning jewel (mine was a 1-114 lightning damage with +16 to life) Bow: Also socketed with a 1-9x lightning jewel Armor: Socketed with a 1-9x lightning jewel or an Um rune or +15 Resist All jewel (though the damage is more important if you want to try finishing Hell with this character). I chose the resist all jewel for my second socket choice In my opinion, at least one of the rings should be Raven Frost since it adds cold damage and gives a good attack rating bonus. The second ring should have life leech and +50 poison damage (I've not seen one of those yet). Depending on luck, you should try for good medium charms since they can give out very good elemental damage bonuses. According to Arreat Summit, those charms can have 1-90 lightning damage and 27-43 fire damage. You'll definitely need at least one resist all charm if you intend to try Hell difficulty. My charm list for those who are curious: 1-37 Lightning damage (medium) 19-34 Fire damage, +28 life (medium) 1-27 Lightning damage, lightning resist 6% (small) 1-22 Lightning damage, lightning resist 11% (small) 1-23 Lightning damage, fire resist 4% (small) +12 Resist All, 25% Extra gold (grand) 50 Poison damage 4 Seconds (small) +20 life, +11 mana (small) I only obtained one 1-97 lightning damage jewel (put it in the bow), so a helm socket would be still available in Act 5 Hell. As you can see, I have still quite a bit of inventory space left for additional charms. An "uber" jewel would be one with +10 minimum damage, 1-9x lightning damage, and some fire damage (obviously pretty rare). Skills: 13 - Critical Strike 10 - Strafe (I like even numbers, but you may want to just get it up to skill level 6 for the max on arrows) 10 - Guided Arrow 5 - Pierce 20 - Freeze Arrow 10 - Valkyrie 1 point Fire Arrow if you want to do Hell difficulty with this character Points in Penetrate to keep a 90% chance to hit 1 point in prerequisites Since Strafe does not add much damage for this build, Multishot is an alternative on skill choice Strafe would be a good choice for the Vidala set though Stats: Strength: 50 Dexterity: 300 minimum Vitality: 50 minimum Energy: Base Oddly enough, the Arctic set is a better choice than Vidala for a few reasons. Most of the problem with the Vidala set is that crucial slots are taken up (the amulet and the boots), so it's a bit less flexible than the Arctic set build. Since the Vidala set would obviously be almost the same, here are my comments on it. You would need at most 1 point into Pierce (and/or Razortail) to get the most out of the bow. You would probably want to use Laying of Hands for the Vidala set. The Vidala set is a better magic find set, especially if you add Chance Guards and Goldwrap (not possible with Arctic set), though the set boots rule out using War Traveler. For damage, the Vidala set is just a bit better in the long term (especially with the Laying of Hands or Lava Gout gloves) but it involves more of a trade-off in equipment (and a higher strength allocation to use the Lava Gout gloves). Both sets can finish Nightmare, so it's really up to you to decide how far into Hell you want to go (in which case, Vidala would be a better choice though I think the Arctic set can also finish Hell with a full charmed inventory). I do plan on giving the Vidala set a try to see how well she fares compared to the Arctic character. When I do finish her in Nightmare, I'll post additional comments on that build. I hope I've inspired some of you to try either of those overlooked sets.
