Actually, I was under the impression that fire damage from items did add to fire-based weapon skills like Immo, but I don't think Blizz had that sort of foresight. Me, I did see Immo as a fire-and-forget skill, but now it's looking more and more like forget-the-fire skills.

I was always more partial to the cold tree as a panic button and not a real source of damage, but I can see your point on the Immo tree - or the fire tree in general because more monsters are resistant to fire than anything else. It's times like this I wish Chippydip would work a bit faster on his calculator. 

Doom on a Might merc for a Frostmaiden, huh? Sounds groovy AND practical (though I don't think that negative to cold resistance will work with frostmaiden skills, just the attacks from your merc), though I've been stuck on Crescent Moon ever since top and I put one together. (And here I am, with all of these ethereal Honors...*grumble grumble*...if Doom and Eternity weren't so expensive, I'd be rolling in the violence right now *grumble*)

Actually, Bri, you'll notice a trend on the characters. For the most part, all of them have at least one tree with a minimum of synergies. These are either the character's passive tree or the character's "support" tree: for the most part, builds that concentrate on optimum offense don't concentrate on these trees, even though they may live or die by them. These include the barbarian's masteries, the amazon's passive/magic tree (note that all synergies only affect one skill), the assassin's shadow disciplines, the paladin's defensive auras (only two auras benefit from synergies, while all others give their synergies to other skills), the druid's summoning tree (all but one synergy was present before v1.1), the necromancer's curses, and some tree for the sorc (I dunno, I don't play them).

For me, this means one thing - if your character is fairly wealthy, then these trees can be pumped up with +skill items without too much concern for worrying about synergies, leaving you free to develop the other two trees to your heart's content.
