Mining is a primary profession, and can be used with blacksmithing, engineering and for the purposes of trading.  While out in the world, you will often be near a mine.  Many ores and other things like gems can be found from mines.  Crafters can use mining to save on the cost of materials and mining can be used to generate cash by selling to crafters.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
No matter if you mine while you fight or fight while you mine, mining can help you reach your goals.&lt;br /&gt;

Getting Started: Apprentice&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Miners can be found in the low level areas or at the capital cities for the most part.  Most trainers will have a supplies merchant nearby who can sell you a mining pick, the one needed thing for mining.  General Supply merchants also tend to sell picks.  After you get the mining skill, you can then use the &amp;#039;find minerals&amp;#039; skill which puts dots on the minimap showing where the minerals are close to use.  A good starting point is to zoom the minimap all the way in, then zoom out twice, to see minerals around you.  You will find that minerals are often in odd places.  You may have to zoom the minimap in to be able to find the deposit.  You will also tend to get better at mountain climbing to reach some deposits.   &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The first thing you will find is copper.  Copper is easy to find and has many uses.  Copper ore stacks to 10 in your bags and can be converted to copper bars with smelting which stack to 20.  Smelting is the process of converting the ore to bars which are used to craft or can be traded.  Ore can be traded also, but there is little reason not to smelt the ore.  Early on, you will get skill point for smelting.  However, you will find that you stop getting skill for smelting and have to mine to get more skill.&lt;br /&gt;

Continuing Your Career: Journeyman&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
As you start exploring away from the newbie areas, you will see tin now and then.  By the time you reach around level 20, you should be able to find tin without trouble.  From around skill 75 and up, you won&amp;#039;t be getting skill from smelting copper or tin, so keep busy with that pick!  Most of your trainers will train you to Journeyman, so this is easy to find and get.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Once you start finding tin, you will have a chance to find silver.  Silver is a rare respawn of tin mines.  It takes skill 75 to mine silver.  Smelting silver will give skill after copper and tin stop, but still won&amp;#039;t get you to expert.  Once you find tin, make sure you visit a trainer to get tin and bronze smelting.  Bronze is smelted from copper and tin bars.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
As you reach the end of your Journeyman period, you will find that the skill slows down.  Copper mining stops giving skill and only tin and silver mines will give skill.  Stay with it, for you may soon see that iron mine!  At skill 125 you can mine Iron, and will start to skill up again.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;

Mining for Fun and Profit: Expert&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Between skill levels 125 and 150, you should find an expert mining trainer, and pick up expert mining so you can keep increasing skill past 150.  Expert mining trainers can be found at:&lt;br /&gt;

Training is somewhere on the order of 75s and allows access to iron and gold ores.&lt;br /&gt;

Zen and Art of Mining: Artisan&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Artisan Mining trainers can be found in Auberdine, Ironforge, Thunder Bluff, and Orgrimmar. &lt;br /&gt;

Tips&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Durotar is an excellent place for copper; it&amp;#039;s entirely possible to make a circuit of Durotar in around 20-30 minutes (on a mount, of course) and pick up 70 ore and 40 or more rough stones.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
For tin, the Azureload Mine in Hillsbrad can provide a number of veins, and the mobs inside and outside are a nice source of silk and wool cloth.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
For iron, Alterac is where it&amp;#039;s at.  Run a beat between the yeti caves and ogre caves, and you can easily score 20-50 iron, along with a little mithril and occasionally some truesilver.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
As for mithril, most people prefer Badlands, and it&amp;#039;s also a good place for iron, though it&amp;#039;s not as productive as running a beat in Alterac.  For mithril, the ravine where the whelps and drakes can be found is an excellent source.  As far as running a beat goes, the Nethergarde Mine in Blasted Lands generally produces a little less mithril than Badlands, but the mobs inside are excellent sources of cash and mageweave.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Lastly, small thorium can be found in various places in such zones as Azshara and Felwood, and you&amp;#039;ll see relatively large numbers of rich thorium in later areas such as Burning Steppes and Winterspring.&lt;br /&gt;

Each Talent has a Utility ranking (how good it is, on a 1-10 scale, ignoring pre-requisites), a Cost ranking (1 being too many poor utility pre-requisites, 10 meaning it&amp;#039;s worth the point investment to get it nomatter what), and an Overall ranking (subjective combination of the two factors).&lt;br /&gt;

On some of these talents I am not speaking from direct experience, so please feel free to adjust any ratings/descriptions you feel are off. If enough people tweak the ranks, I will go through the history and edit the rank to reflect an average of current patch rankings (feel free to adjust the average yourself if you want to crunch the numbers).&lt;br /&gt;

&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Bloodthirst lasts for 15 seconds.  Assuming you&amp;#039;re fighting green-con mobs (every Warrior does this for grinding, because we all know yellow-con mobs cause too much downtime), you can probably kill six or seven before needing to rest, and you&amp;#039;ll definitely get some nice mileage out of this ability.  In PvP, ANY player - regardless of level difference - triggers Bloodthirst, and a double-damage hit is incredibly powerful in PvP.  True, by taking Bloodthirst, you miss out on either Sweeping Strikes or Concussion Blow, but neither of the two abilities are particularly stellar.  Sweeping Strikes confines you to Battle Stance, is buggy, and only lasts for five hits, and costs an absurd 30 Rage.  Concussion Blow can be blocked, dodged, parried, or just plain miss, and many high level mobs are either resistant or immune to stuns.  On top of that, it&amp;#039;s pretty well-accepted that placing ANY points into Protection (21 of which will be required if you want Conc) effectively neuters your damage output.  I&amp;#039;d take Bloodthirst over Concussion Blow or Sweeping Strikes any day.  - Artega&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&lt;br /&gt;

A normal mob will likely crit you for around 100-120, while an elite mob will likely crit you for more than 200 HP. Increases critical strike damage of Sinister Strike, Gouge, Backstab, Ambush, Ghostly Strike, or Hemorrhage by 6% per rank for each of 5 ranks&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Very very useful.  Rogue crits are in the 75-200% extra damage range.  Rogue crits seem to happen about 10% of the time at the default rate.  Mix that with crit chance boosting Talents and you can do monster damage.&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Improved Expose Armor&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Prereq: 10 pts in Assassination&lt;br /&gt;

Increases armor reduction of Expose Armor by 15% per rank for up to 3 ranks&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Expose Armor has limited use as it does not stack with the Warrior armor class reduction talent.  You have better things to spend both combo points and Talent points.  Give this one a pass.&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&lt;br /&gt;

&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Relentless Strikes&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&lt;br /&gt;

&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Gouge is one of the Rogues few means of CC.  This can improve that ability.  However, most people play Rogues as damage machines.&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&lt;br /&gt;

&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Improved Sinister Strike&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&lt;br /&gt;

Reduces the Energy cost of your Sinister Strike by 3 for 1 rank or 5 for 2 ranks&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Almost every Rogue should have this Talent.  There are very very few builds that will not have this.  You will probably use this skill more any other skill.  Making it cheaper is good buy it first. Look at a fight beginning with 100 energy without ISS: you make SS at seconds 0, 1.5, 4, 8. With 2 ranks of ISS: 0, 1.5, 3, 6 - a full 2 seconds faster to get 4 SSs in and 4 combo points&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Lightning Reflexes&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&lt;br /&gt;

&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Think of it as Sweeping Strikes on steroids.  It&amp;#039;s very powerful when grinding or farming, but it&amp;#039;s not really the best talent for groups or PvP.
