Holding the cursor over the globe displays numerical values, which since 1.13 will remain even when the cursor has been removed after clicking once on the bottom of the globe (clicking a second time will undo this). Mana is a player character's spiritual essence, and it is normally consumed whenever an active skill is used (with the exception of common skills and Sacrifice, which have no mana cost). Mana displayed is rounded down to the nearest point, but the smallest unit is actually 1/256 point. Otherwise, a player character will normally stop using a skill when there is insufficient mana. Holy Shield and Fist of the Heavens are the exceptions, with the latter in particular being potentially dangerous: a Paladin casting at a selected target at range does not stop when there is insufficient mana, he starts approaching the target to engage in melee combat! Unlike life, mana naturally regenerates. Player character can also return to maximum mana upon gaining a level, returning to town and visiting a healer, or activating a Mana or Refilling Shrine in the wilderness. Each drink from a well in the wilderness will restore 50% of maximum mana. Player character can also drink a Full Rejuvenation Potion to restore maximum mana (while each Rejuvenation Potion will restore 35% of maximum mana). Mana potions can also be drunk to restore mana over time; any excess which isn't required to restore maximum mana may not be redundant, since further mana can be consumed while recovering.
