|  | Classic Diablo II was released on 29 June 2000. Classic is played if the Lord of Destruction expansion has not been installed; even if it has, Classic characters can be created by unchecking the Expansion Character box when creating a new character.There are separate Ladders for Classic and Classic Hardcore. Titles awarded upon completion of each difficulty also differ:

 BasicChance of Blocking is not dependent on character level or Dexterity: it is simply the shield's displayed chance to block (25% Increase Chance of Blocking from Twitchthroe Studded Leather does not apply to shield's displayed chance to block, but does apply to character screen's displayed chance to block).Resistance penalty is -20 in Nightmare and -50 in Hell.
