HD images

The new class, Warlock, has only HD assets (it's not even possible to switch to legacy graphics when playig the RotW era). It clearly doesn't fit the rest of the images, such as class (here) or pet icons. What should be the image policy regarding D2/D2R? Replace the old images with HD versions, to have one common format? Retain the legacy images, and somehow show both of them (like side by side)? Trang Oul (talk) 05:51, 13 February 2026 (EST)

I tried to make it a user pref (not to enforce any specific version), but, sadly, I was unable to use JS to switch between images. :( Trang Oul (talk) 14:21, 17 February 2026 (EST)
Replacing legacy images with HD versions would involve replacing the following, at the very least:
* 7 Class icons
* 4 Mercenary icons
* 20 Pet icons
* 21 Skill trees
I wouldn't recommend it, but it's up to you. Images specific to the Warlock obviously have to be HD, and on pages like these which could include both legacy and HD images, you could try resizing to make it less obvious. For example, legacy class icons are 46 x 41 and the Warlock icon is 120 x 120, so when both are used and you increase the legacy class icons to 135px:

At least on my computer (Scale 125%, Display resolution 1920 x 1080) all now have 150px height in a screenshot (120px with Scale 100%), but this could differ depending on display settings, and reducing the size of the Warlock icon can result in it not being displayed. D2R portraits (well, actually most (all?) sprites) have two versions: standard and "lowend". The former portraits are 120x120, the latter 60x60. So we can use the smaller versions (and slightly enlarge the D2 ones to match), so the difference is not that striking:

(Amazon has width set to 67px, to maintain 60px height, and the Warlock is just shrunk - I didn't replace the image yet.) Trang Oul (talk) 14:37, 18 February 2026 (EST)
