Beasts

Beasts are the lower forms of life in Hell. They are the naturally occurring fauna of the Underworld, made evil by their surroundings and their masters. True Demons see them as fodder to subjugate, abuse, brand, armor and train for battle. Beasts are unintelligent and commonly oriented towards melee combat, attacking with fangs and claws. While susceptible to most types of damage, Beasts of greater power and age can be extremely large and strong, a few reportedly towering over city buildings. Some of these creatures also employ attacks representative of their infernal origins, unleashing corrosive, poisonous or fiery effects on their unlucky targets. In terms of natural defenses, the more brutish varieties have thick, armored hides while their smaller, wiry kin rely on their agility to avoid attacks.

The demons of Hellgate:London can be divided into 4 distinct categories or castes: besides Beasts, we have Primus, Necro and Spectral. Beast Lesser Demons are listed below.

Blood Coil

Can be found around the Covent Garden Train Depot area -- Level 3.

Carnagor

The Carnagor is a beast-class demon which can be summoned by the Cabalist.

Chomper

This is a small beast of little threat unless it is given time to grow into a fire-breathing Morphoid.

If it starts growing, make sure you try to kill it before it has finished the transformation, as it will be vulnerable during this process.

Crested Stalker

Crested Stalkers are small, wiry imps with jagged, razor-edged claws protruding from their oversized forearms and backs. These are used for both assault and defense against their enemies. Stalkers come in several variations but are always fast, nimble and extremely deadly, using surprise and elevation to great advantage.

Cursed Fellbore

Cursed Fellbore demons live underground and can dig themselves up to the surface anywhere they want, making it hard to predict where they might show up next. Sometimes they leave holes in the ground big enough for you to explore. You will recognize a Cursed Fellbore by its thick skin and large claws used to dig underground. They are stronger than the regular Fellbore.

Fanged Ravager

Can be found around Charing Cross Approach -- Level 8.

Fellbore

Fellbore demons live underground and can dig themselves up to the surface anywhere they want, making it hard to predict where they might show up next. Sometimes they leave holes in the ground big enough for you to explore. You will recognize a Fellbore by its thick skin and large claws used to dig underground.

These monsters often come in fairly large packs. Area of effect weapons or spells will therefore be particularly useful in taking them out. If you don't normally use such weapons, it might be an idea to equip one in one of your three weapon slots.

Fetid Hulk

The Fetid Hulk is characterized in part by its size, and in part by its glowing sac attached to its chin, a sac that contains a toxin that is released when the beast feels threatened. Fetid Hulks make use of little more than brute force with their huge arms dealing thunderous blows to any foes. While these beasts have a lot working in favor for them in the form of physical strength, their weaknesses are their size, making them slow and sluggish. Maintaining a distance is therefore an efficient defense to use against these.

Fetid Thug

Can be found around the Covent Garden Train Depot area -- Level 3.

Firesnap

Morphoid

Morphoids are fire-breathing beasts that are actually morphed Chompers. Takes significantly more effort to kill than just a regular Chomper.

Plague Jumper

Plague Jumpers are small mid-level imps with hooks instead of claws.

Ravager

Measuring six to ten feet in length from spike-tipped tail to fang-filled head, these muscular and surprisingly agile demons make up for their lack of intelligence with pure aggressiveness. The common mode of attack for the Ravager is to circle their prey and then coil, tense their powerful hind quarters, and leap forward, teeth bared. Fortunately for the attentive adventurer, they emit a low, barking sound a few moments before attacking, making their vicious assault avoidable for the more fleet of foot.

Ravager Mastodon

Can be found around Piccadilly Circus/A Step Into Hell -- Level 9.

Kill 3 Ravager Mastodon in Lower Thames for Quest Safety's On.

Rotted Hulk

The Rotted Hulk is characterized in part by its size, and in part by its glowing sac attached to its chin. The Rotted Hulk is a lower level version of the Fetid Hulk.

Stalker

Stalkers are small, wiry imps with jagged, razor-edged claws protruding from their oversized forearms and backs. These are used for both assault and defense against their enemies. Stalkers are fast, nimble and extremely deadly, using surprise and elevation to great advantage.

Although they are physically the weakest of the beasts, Stalkers attack with abandon. They prefer to spew balls of fire from a distance whenever possible, making their hit-and-run tactics all the more effective.

Stunted Carnagor

Can be found around Charing Cross Approach -- Level 8.
