Blacksmithing is one of the primary WoW Tradeskills, allowing the character to make mail and plate armor.

Thottbot's Blacksmithing page is here.

For Horde, the Artisan Blacksmith is in Orgrimmar, and the Master Blacksmith is in Booty Bay. Both Weaponsmith and Armorsmith can be found in Orgrimmar.

After level 40, and when your blacksmithing skill is at Artisan, you'll be allowed to specialize in either Armorsmithing or Weaponsmithing.

Weaponsmithing allows you to create some truly magnificent weapons. Weapons created are generally MH or 2H. The quest is SIGNIFICANTLY easier to complete than the Armorsmithing quest, but there are fewer Weaponsmith items than Armorsmith items (as far as I know.) The plans for the Moonsteel Broadsword are on the Superior Weaponcrafter (an Orc) near Scooty in Booty Bay. The plans for the Massive Iron Axe are on the Superior Axecrafter (a Human) in Hemet Nesingwary's camp.

Armorsmithing allows you to create the best armor in the game, better than what can be found, for the most part. The vast majority of this armor is Plate, however - Dragonscale Leatherworking creates the best Mail armor. This quest is SIGNIFICANTLY harder than the Weaponsmithing quest, but there also seem to be more Armorsmithing prints than Weaponsmithing prints. You will learn the plans for the Ornate Mithril Helms, Ornate Mithril Breastplates, and Ornate Mithril Boots from Trenton Lighthammer in Gadgetzan. You must first complete the three quests assigned by Galvan the Ancient to activate these quests.
