Leatherworking is one of the primary WoW Tradeskills. It is used to make Leather and Mail armor, as well as patches that can be applied to armor to provide extra armor class. Allakhazam's Leatherworking page is here, and Thottbott's is here. Thottbot's is a little better, IMO, but if you're interested in drop- or vendor-only patterns, Allakhazam's page lists these on their page, just click the <Pattern:X> link under the name of the item on the list above to see where to get it.

Leatherworking in Classic WoW

Leatherworking trainers are found in every main city.

A player can become an Apprentice Leatherworker and begin creating items with patterns in Classic WoW at Level 5. Apprentice Leatherworkers can learn patterns up to 75 skill.

A player can become a Journeyman Leatherworker and begin creating items with patterns in Classic WoW at Level 10, with a leatherworking skill of 50. Journeyman Leatherworkers can learn patterns up to 150 skill.

A player can become an Expert Leatherworker and begin creating items with patterns in Classic WoW at Level 20, with a leatherworking skill of 125. Expert Leatherworkers can learn patterns up to 225 skill.

A player can become an Artisan Leatherworker and begin creating items with patterns in Classic WoW at Level 35, with a leatherworking skill of 200. Artisan Leatherworkers can learn patterns up to 300 skill.

Leatherworking Patterns in Classic WoW For Alliance, the Artisan Leatherworker is in Darnassus, and the Master Leatherworker is in Aerie Peak.

For Horde, the Artisan Leatherworker is in Thunder Bluff, and the Master Leatherworker is in Camp Mojache.

After level 40, and when your leatherworking skill is sufficiently high (Artisan is required), you can specialize in one of the 3 branches of leatherworking:

Tribal Leatherworking quest The Horde Tribal Leatherworker is south of Grom'gol. The Alliance Tribal Leatherworker is in Thalanaar, on the east side of Feralas, next to the Alliance flight point there.

   * Helm of Fire - 118 AC, 17 Agi, 10 Sta, 5 FR, Hurls a fiery ball that causes 286 to 376 Fire damage and an additional 40 damage over 8 sec. (Lvl 45)

   * Shoulders - 117 AC, 13 Spi, 8 NatureRes, Increases healing done by spells and effect by up to 28. (Lvl 49)

Leatherworking in The Burning Crusade

A player can become a Master Leatherworker and begin creating items with patterns from the Burning Crusades expansion at Level 50, with a leatherworking skill of 275. Leatherworking trainers are found in Hellfire Peninsula at Honor Hold (Alliance) and Thrallmar (Horde), in Blade's Edge Mountains at Mok'nathal Village, and in Shattrath City at Lower City, and Scryer's and Aldor's Tiers . Master Leatherworkers can learn patterns up to 375 skill.

Leatherworking in Wrath of the Lich King

A player can become a Grand Master Leatherworker and begin creating items with patterns from the Wrath of the Lich King expansion at Level 65, with an leatherworking skill of 350. Leatherworking trainers are found in the Borean Tundra at Valiance Keep (Alliance) and Warsong Hold (Horde), in Howling Fjord at Valgarde (Alliance) and Vengeance Landing (Horde), in Dalaran at the Magus Commerce Exchange, and in Icecrown at the Argent Tournament. Grand Master Leatherworkers can learn patterns up to 450 skill.
