This project was completed on 10 December 2005.

In the process of farming the coin to purchase the Dark Iron Ore required, Phaedra reached Honored with the Timbermaw furbolgs. The Deadwood furbolgs at Felpaw Village were particularly kind to her since they dropped a Libram of Resilience near the beginning of the project (sold to Cybitar for 85g) and dropped a Glowing Brightwood Staff later on (sold on the auction house for 800g). The coin from auctioning the staff paid for most of the rest of the Dark Iron Ore needed at that point.

The final turnin of 1,010 ore was done on 10 December with help from Starkos of House Harpell and Ranavalona, Sevanna, Tuftears, and Verrfrey of The Basin. Obligatory screenshot

Materials for Robe of the Archmage

This project was completed on 28 January 2006.

I originally won the pattern on one of martini's instance runs. That was an insane run for me since I got the pattern, Skyshroud Leggings from Omokk, and Trindlehaven Staff from Wyrmthalak. I felt bad about it afterwards.

Farming elementals for essences is not too much unlike, say, farming furbolgs. For me, the water elementals are the hardest since they can't be kited with frost. I farmed most of the essences myself with a decent number of donations at the end from Sevanna, Verrfrey, and Sangochan.

It may be somewhat ironic that Robe of Volatile Power dropped the next day. Luckily (or unluckily), someone else bid on the robe and let me keep wearing my new shiny blue robe.

Collection for Orb of the Darkmoon

This was completed in February 2006. The turnins were mostly glowing scorpid blood with some crafted items commissioned from Sangochan and Mathom.

Discussion

Phaedra's primary role is PvE grinding and, more recently, group DPS and crowd control. Her DPS and endurance are higher than Astraea's, allowing her to go through mobs faster although her survivability might be lower.

Originally spec'd a full 31 Arcane with points in Fire, her spec was changed to primarily Frost as a way to learn kiting. The first respec was intended to be 30 Frost/21 Arcane with Presence of Mind. Seeing as how Presence of Mind was never used, switching to 33 Frost/18 Arcane made the most sense.

As an experiment, she was respec'd to Fire where she currently remains. Currently spec'd for 17 Arcane/31 Fire/3 Frost, the experiment seems to be going well thus far, with charred bodies of her foes left in her wake. It is still tempting every so often to switch back to 17 Arcane/34 Frost and this may occur sometime in the future.

Phaedra is named after my character in an Amber campaign long ago. The name itself is from Some Velvet Morning, a duet between Nancy Sinatra and some guy whose name I can't remember. (I was aware that the name was Greek and had a place in Greek culture/mythology but did not discover what it actually was until recently.)

Her in-game RP concept is that she is a survivor of Dalaran who was still an apprentice when it was attacked. She was shipped off to Stormwind to finish her training by her master who has not been seen since the Scourge's attack.
