The Hunter is a stealthy gunner skilled in recon and engineering. While the Templar excels in melee combat, this class has abilities to improve guns as well as set up turrets, bombs, and traps for an edge in ranged combat. The recon, engineering, and marksmanship skill trees providing stealth abilities as well as deadly ranged attack accuracy makes the Hunter a formidable class that could defeat many infernal opponents before they get to know what hit them.

Players having played Blizzard Entertainment's games may find this class similar to the Ghost in Starcraft, or Assassin in Diablo II. It has also been likened to the class with the same name in the MMORPG Dark Age of Camelot.

Background

Hunters were highly-trained ex-military operatives and members of secret government agencies most comfortable clinging to the shadows and dealing with threats in their own deadly ways. After the Demon invasion, methods and weapons once held secret were shared as Hunters switched their crosshairs from one another to the monsters that had invaded their world.

The archetype of the Hunter is obscure, cloaked in mystery and subterfuge. In one way he is the Assassin, the Ninja, the knife in the dark. In other ways, he is the Ronin, a highly-trained warrior with no master. In yet more, he is the Destroyer, a force of blazing gunfire and deadly accuracy that lays waste to any foe that stands in his way.

Their weaponry was/is a mix of hyper-advanced technology and theoretical science. Their people are boisterous groups of practical hard-asses who have survived the Demon invasion thus far by remaining a few steps ahead and keeping the Cabalists and Templar a few steps behind. They are also men and women that have been subjected to indescribable horrors long before any Demon touched Earth's soil.

Drone

The Engineer Hunter additionally has a "pet" called a Drone, working much like the Iron Golem of Diablo II. In other words, it's a mechanized ally that follows the Hunter and can equip items like armor and weapons in order to boost its defensive and offensive capabilities respectively. That way, items you find that you personally don't have a use for can still be useful for your Drone. The Engineer Hunter can only have one Drone at a time, but is also able to have other specific-use bots aiding them. Neither Bots nor Drones can be transferred to another character.
