- Monster Defense per hit reduces a monster's defense whenever the equipping player character or mercenary uses a default/normal melee attack, even when that attack misses or is blocked; affecting chance to hit of any subsequent attacks made by any player, mercenary, or pet. [1] [2]
- All skills (including melee skills), ranged attacks, missile weapons, and Iron Golem attacks require a successful hit check to apply -MDPH, missed or blocked attacks will not apply it.
- Werewolves and Werebears using default/normal attack with a bow or crossbow is considered a melee attack and will apply -MDPH even if the attack misses or is blocked.
- Stacks infinitely, although defense cannot be reduced below zero.
- Does not have a duration, lasting until the monster is unloaded by having all players leave the monster's immediate area for a short period of time.
- When on a weapon, it applies only to attacks (including Dragon Talon, Dragon Tail and Dragon Flight) made using that weapon. [3]
- Not applied by Smite.
- It is applied before the Stone Skin Unique bonus, and any subsequent +% Defense.
- Chance to hit displayed by character screen when cursor is over Attack Rating field does not take it into account.
